Severe Weather Shelter
When the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management declares and emergency shelter need, our doors are open. Hosted by this church, funded by several area churches, and staffed by a multitude of volunteers from around the county, this project is primarily in use November through March. Call 211 to find out more.
When paychecks run out before the end of the month we are there to provide a good, hot meal on the last Tuesday of each month. Other groups provide dinners to give two weeks of hot meals through community generosity.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Hand-crafted shawls made with love and prayer are given for physical or emotional comfort to anyone in need. Donations of new fleece and 3+ skeins of yarn in a single color are welcome, as are already crafted shawls or throws.
Stafford Suites Ministry
It is our joy to provide a worship experience for the residents at Stafford Suites at 3 pm on the 2nd Sunday each month. Music, scripture, reflection, and friendly chat make for a beautiful afternoon.
Food and other assistance is provided through this community service. We support their work with gifts of food, cash, and volunteers.
Bags of Hope
Compact bags of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items, along with a few other small gifts, provide an alternative to giving money to persons looking for a handout, and are excellent gifts for couch surfers! Each bag costs $3; purchase several to keep handy in your car for the next opportunity to give.
United Methodist Men
Breakfast once a month is a great reason to get together to hear a guest speaker, and to the other ministries these men do, such as mowing a lawn, a ride to the doctor, moving the firewood, or a host of other helpful services for those local and far away. Planned for 2017: Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper 5-7 pm February 28, Popcorn & Parking at the Cruz August 13, and a fall Mission Trip to NE Washington to rebuild homes wildfires destroyed.
Women in Mission
As serious about their mission as they are about having fun, these women have a lot of fun supporting a lot of mission within the church, throughout the Port Orchard and Kitsap communities, and across the globe, including UMCOR. They raise fun through personal pledges, progressive dinners, lunches, dinners, and bazaars. And they enjoy it all. Planned for 2017: Bake Sales February 12 & May 21, Irish Stew brunch 10:30 March 12, and Annual Bazaar November 4 .
